Every since I was little, I have had a passion for helping kids. I decided at the age of 4 that I was going to be a teacher, and have spent the rest of my life following that dream. Even after 19 years of teaching of variety of grade levels, I still have a passion for kids and love to see that “light bulb” come on. Whether I am teaching in the classroom, on a basketball court, on the sideline with cheerleaders, or a baseball field, there is nothing like seeing a child’s eyes sparkle when that light comes on and you see their sense of pride because “they get it”. That’s the same feeling I get when I see someone who decides to have a relationship with Jesus (when their light comes on for Jesus and they understand just how much they are loved), which is one of the reasons I am excited about being on staff at Community Christian as the part time Middle School Ministry Pastor.
My husband, Justin, and I were church shopping when I was 6 months pregnant with our oldest son. We had visited other churches before coming to Community, but they just didn’t seem like the right fit. Once we visited, we have never left. 16 years later, we have added 2 other children to our family and have found a place where we can enjoy worshipping, listen to sermons that apply to our lives, and “framily” (friends who are like family) to do life with. Since coming to Community, I have voluntarily worked with all ages of kids at (from the infants to preschoolers, to school age, to the pre-teens and teens). It doesn’t matter what age group it is, I still get that wonderful feeling when their “light” comes on for Jesus. I look forward to impacting and sharing God’s love with as many people as I can. Teaching them to let their light shine for God and to see their light glowing is as priceless as it can get.
